What's New For 2021

Going Paperless

  • Our office is now going paperless.  All copies of returns will be sent electronically, and all documentation to be signed will be done electronically as well.  You will need to request a paper copy if required.


Repayment of Covid 19 Benefits

  • If you received Covid-19 Benefits, you will receive a T4A slip with the relevant information for your tax return.  If your net income exceeds $38,000 then you may have to repay a part or all of your benefits 


Work from home expenses

  • The maximum amount has increased from $400 to $500 for tax year 2021.  If you have been tracking your expenses you can go ahead and claim the total, otherwise you can use the flat rate method of $2 for each day worked during the pandemic


Basic Personal Amount

  • The government has increased the basic personal amount to $13,808, so most people should receive a slight boost in their return


The Seniors Home Safety Tax Credit

  • The new credit supports seniors in making their home more accessible with a credit of 25% up to a max of $10,000 of eligible expenses


Childcare Access and Relief from Expenses Credit

  • For 2021 this will be increased by 2021


Temporary Ontario Jobs Training Tax Credit

  • This new credit allows individuals to claim 50% of eligible expenses for 2021 to a max credit of $2000
